DHS Riverside

Creative Systems partnered with the Department of Human Services (DHS) to create a dynamic, adaptable workspace at the Riverside Building, aligning with the department's core values of service, efficiency and professionalism. The design emphasises both functionality and comfort, creating an environment that fosters productivity, collaboration and employee wellbeing. By integrating forward thinking solutions with a clean, modern aesthetic, the fitout meets the department's operational needs while supporting long term growth and adaptability in a South Australian government setting.

The Creative Systems team delivered a thoughtfully designed furniture solution catering to DHS's operational needs while reinforcing an atmosphere of efficiency and professionalism throughout the Riverside Building. Freedom Desks with V-leg frames established sleek, functional work areas, complemented by Mirae Mesh Back Task Chairs providing genuine ergonomic support for extended use. Adjustable monitor arms were integrated at each workstation to optimise productivity and offer flexibility in screen positioning, keeping the workspace streamlined and adaptable. Mobile pedestals kept work surfaces organised and clutter free, while secure personal lockers gave staff reliable, everyday storage. Visitor chairs in a modern, minimalist style enhanced the meeting areas, and tambour cabinets were strategically placed throughout to maintain efficient, harmonious storage across the whole floor.

Design Excellence

The design approach for DHS Riverside centred on building a high performance government office without sacrificing comfort or spatial clarity. Every piece, from the height adjustable desks to the ergonomic mesh back task chairs, was chosen for genuine daily support and long term durability rather than short term appearance. The layout was planned around real staff movement and workflow, supporting the collaboration a South Australian government department relies on day to day, while reading as clean, professional and considered throughout the space.

Sustainable Innovations

Government fitouts increasingly weigh environmental impact alongside function and cost, and the DHS Riverside project reflected that throughout. Furniture selections favoured Australian manufactured products where possible, reducing transport impact and supporting South Australian supply chains rather than importing generic overseas stock. Choosing commercial grade desks, chairs and storage built to withstand years of daily government use is itself a sustainability decision, reducing the churn of furniture being replaced and landfilled every few years. Creative Systems works directly with South Australian suppliers who can speak to the specific environmental credentials of individual products, supporting DHS's broader commitment to responsible, local procurement.

Client Collaboration

The success of the DHS Riverside project came down to genuine collaboration between the Creative Systems team and DHS. Clear communication and a shared vision from the outset allowed the team to design a workspace that met operational needs while genuinely improving the staff experience day to day. Close attention to detail throughout the process delivered a functional, professional government office that reflects DHS's values and holds up to the demands of a busy South Australian workplace.
